Over 50 years ago a group of enterprising Jersey and Guernsey cow farmers in England, Scotland and Wales agreed to combine their skills and resources by forming a new co-operative.
Recognizing the potential of their high-quality milk, they formed a new company, Quality Milk Producers Ltd (QMP), to market and promote their new brand GOLD TOP. QMP successfully registered the brand name in the 1970’s and from this has evolved an ever-expanding range of quality dairy products under the GOLD TOP name.
In the 1950s, a glass bottle of GOLD TOP was a familiar morning sight on the family doorstep, but it has since become a popular brand in many of the leading major supermarkets, independent food retailers and farm shops throughout the UK.
GOLD TOP stands for quality and it tastes better, being both richer and creamier in flavour and consistency than regular silver top milk. It is also higher in protein and energy, providing valuable vitamins A, B, D and E, and, of course, calcium.
Alongside our delicious GOLD TOP milk, we produce GOLD TOP butter, which is freshly churned from Jersey and Guernsey cow’s milk. It has a richer flavour and a naturally softer texture than other butters, in addition to a lovely golden colour.
Creamy GOLD TOP milk adds a real touch of luxury to a variety of drinks, from a morning cup of coffee and warming mug of hot chocolate to a calming bedtime beverage.
It not only tastes great in hot or cold drinks, GOLD TOP milk can enhance many sweet and savoury dishes, whether it is poured over breakfast cereal, whisked into a filling for a quiche, used in a creamy sauce for pasta, transformed into a rich custard, ice cream or rice pudding. GOLD TOP milk’s rich consistency makes it an ideal substitute for cream in many recipes, creating indulgent dishes with fewer calories.
